Since the last post, I participated in the JPL sticky wicket competition. Overall, my group did the best out of the three at our school, but most importantly, we qualified for the second round of competitions. Though my group did well, I didn't feel like I got the best experience out of the event. Throughout the whole process, my group lacked any interest in collaborating with each other or working together. There was terrible communication and I feel like I got the worst out of it. There would be times where we held votes, where the decision was vetoed by one student who needed it to be their way. I worked with some that even put it into words saying things like "I don't want to collaborate" which was super frustrating. The worst of all was that my team wouldn't let me help with the build at all. So, I'd sit around do nothing, causing me to lose points, because my team members couldn't collaborate. If I had to give myself advice for the future, I'll advise myself to work with more collaborative people and to be more assertive with them.
